Biography
Hiya folks! My name is Dolly Ann and I am searching for just the right home. And I think after you hear a little about me, you’ll understand just exactly what I mean by that and why it’s so important that we’re a good fit for each other.
Four years ago, I was living with my sister in a basement. It was a scary and dark place. My male owner only dropped by occasionally to throw some food down. And then one day, a hero came to my rescue, and I was transported to KC Pet Project, but that place was scary too! After a life of quiet in the dark, the sounds and the lights and the people in the shelter…it was overwhelming, and I was put on the euthanasia list. See, they just didn’t have the resources to care for a scared dog like me. So, The Pet Connection and Pawsitive Tails teamed up to save me and work their magic on me.
For four years, I’ve been passed over time and again. Am I not pretty enough? That cannot be it because I AM pretty and I’m a great size too! I’m about 45 pounds and healthy as a horse! People ask me what breed I am, and I really have no idea what they’re talking about. There’s speculation that I’ve got some Great Pyrenees in me, or maybe some shepherd.
The truth is, I’m kinda shy when I meet new people…especially men. I am sweet and loving once I know we’re friends. ‘Best friends to the end’ is what I’m looking for! I’d love an all-female home, but I know that’s a tall order; second best would be at least one female in the home that I can bond with while I get to know the others in the home. And, hey, I’d be great for a single lady because I am a great protector!
Also (and this is important!), I do need another dog in the home…being alone in a house is kind of scary (like that awful basement I was trapped in) but if I have a dog buddy with me, I’m much more at ease. I know y’all humans think that crates are great…and maybe they are for some dogs. But, for me, just give me a soft dog bed to call my own and I’m good. And, well, I kinda feel like if you’re allowed on the sofa then so am I…and your bed too. You’re not the only species that likes to snuggle!
I’m housetrained so no worries there. A fenced in yard would be ideal because I love to explore and I’m fine with 4′ fence height. I’m also good on a leash but I don’t require a daily walk if you’ve got a yard! I also enjoy laying quietly in my appointed dog bed chewing on hard bones and being surrounded by soft stuffies.
So let’s recap! I need: a female owner to bond with, another dog to keep me at ease, and a dog bed to call my own. Also, cats are on the ‘no’ list for me. Bonus would be a fenced yard but that’s not a must. I know there’s someone out there for me. I have faith that someone is going to see me here and I will finally have a furever home. Is that you? Are you my mother?
